A BIW clamp unit holds a sheet-metal panel against its locating surfaces while welding, joining or inspection takes place. Its job is not to define the panel position—that comes from the locating scheme—but to preserve that position without distortion.
A slide unit carries locating, clamping or process equipment along a controlled path when a fixed unit would block panel loading, robot access or weld-gun movement. The design must control both the working position and the retracted position.
A riser is the structural connection between a fixture base and the unit mounted above it. It establishes height and orientation while transferring clamp, locator and process loads into the base with acceptable stiffness.
